Eurail Pass Guide For Non Europeans

I just got back from from a two month trip to Europe which was the first time I ever traveled by the train system which is called the Eurail. The biggest mistake I made was thinking I could just pick my pass up there instead of risking losing it on my travel out east. I didn't do my homework and found out you need to buy your Eurail pass before heading over there or you were in for a slight headache.

The Eurail network consists of 20 countries with continuous daily train stops wherever the winds may take you. If you're traveling with friends you can buy a saver pass and stay in a 1st class cabin which makes the ride all the more enjoyable. If you're under 26 then you have the luxury of paying a smaller price for a 2nd class ride.

There are many ticket options which allow for ease of travel without having to pay an excess amount for unused train tickets because you never know when you're going to stay put for a while. Single country tickets start from $57 which is very reasonable due to the growing car rental and gas rates in Europe. I picked up a select pass which I'm told is the most common to get because it lets you choose between 3-5 countries. Once you have your Eurail pass you can pick up and leave at any given time so there is no need to worry about getting a specific train.

The options for travel get even broader with custom packages for certain countries like the Scandinavia Pass which covers Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. If you're in for a more southern stay in Europe there is the Benelux pass which covers the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg.

I hope you enjoy your tour of Europe by train and brace yourself for an unforgettable tour with memories and friendships that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the world!
